About studying typography for the first time
I get addicted easily. Games, television series, random psychology topics. My latest addiction is typography. Ellen Lupton's Thinking With Type is to blame.
How did I not study this before?
Type anatomy, true italic, optical size, uniwidth types, true small caps, monospaced numerals.
I'm only halfway through the book and it already blew me away.
I heavily underestimated the weight typography has in UI design. It's one of those things you have to account for alongside accessibility, interface components (e.g. buttons and inputs), color palette and many others.
From now on, typography is high priority when designing interfaces.
Thank you, Ellen.
